Running In My PJ's...

Well, not really.....
But I did run in a Pajama 5K...I was supposed to run in my pajamas but I admit, I didn't want to look silly....so I passed on the pj's....
But my friend wore her pjs and my oldest daughter wore hers....
Before the race....

The race was to benefit cancers below the waist such as colon, ovarian, prostate, etc.
I finished the race in 30:47 which is my fastest race time....I run just under a 10 minute mile, which is slow in the real runner's world....but fast in "my world"...so I am happy with the finish. My ultimate goal is to get a 5k in under 30 minutes. Maybe one day....but we had some good family fun, and that's what matters most to me!
So here are some pics from our PJ run...

My friend Kym and me...remember last week when I said she just started running in 5k's and was already beating me?? Yeah, well, she beat me by a minute this race....she's turning into Speedy Gonzales!

The Price's after the race....F is in her Sponge Bob pjs...

Sweet F is trying to give me a high 5 as I am approaching the finish line....I was sprinting at this point, and feeling like I might die.....

Why does Daddy Price always have a smile on his face when he crosses the finish line?!?!? He runs these races with ease.....just not fair!

Saturday At The Citadel

On Saturday morning we headed to Ryan's alma mater, The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.

This school has so much history, and is not your typical college. It's a small college made up of about 2,000 cadets. All live on campus in the barracks, all dress in uniform, and all follow some pretty strict discipline if they want to remain a student there.

Saturday was Parent's Weekend, so the cadets put on a parade before the football game. This is where the entire corp of cadets march out on the parade grounds complete with bag pipes and LOUD cannons!

Here are a few pictures from our morning...
(You can read more about The Citadel HERE)

Daddy Price and Little B watching the parade

Don't 'cha love it when you are out somewhere and you run into someone you haven't seen in ages?!?!?

Well, Ryan and I ran into a very special friend, Anne Wimberly. It's a long story that you can read about HERE...but in a nut shell, Anne Wimberly is the mutual friend that got Ryan and I together...so she holds a very special place in our hearts. We were walking around outside the football stadium, and there was Anne Wimberly!! It totally made my day to see her! She lives about 45 minutes from us, so we have agreed there is no reason we can't get together more, so I look forward to seeing AW again soon!!!

Have a GREAT Monday....

Tomorrow I have new race pics to share!

I Was On TV !!!!!!

My neighbor called me this afternoon to tell me I was on the Channel 2 news today....
WHAT?!?
As we were leaving the race on Saturday my friend and I noticed a camera man filming us walk.....and we wondered, "Why would a camera guy follow 2 women walking down a sidewalk when he had 10,000 other people in the streets for the race?!?"
Well, it turns out that the wife of the South Carolina Governor was walking behind us.....everyone knows about the SC Governor....last summer he claimed to be hiking the Appalachain Trail, when in reality he was in Argentina with his mistress. It made national news. Since then, his wife has moved out of their mansion and back to Charleston (where she is from) with their children. Saturday's race was her first public appearance since last summer's news broke.....
So, apparently she was walking behind us leaving the race.....and they filmed her/us.....and let me add that I had JUST finished running a 5K race 5 minutes before. I look like death warmed over....and if filming me looking my worst was not enough, they rewind the footage and play it in slow motion.....ugh!!
So here is my 3 seconds of fame....you have to watch until minute 2:15 to see us.....

I Raced For The Cure!!!

Well, I did it!
I completed another 5K!!

And in record time.....for me, anyways....

Thank you for all of your comments on here and on FB. I have a full page list of names of those you asked me to pray for.....and I did!!! I prayed for those struggling with breast cancer, I thanked God for His healing for those who have been cured, & I prayed for wisdom for those doctors who are currently helping patients with breast cancer! Praying along the way made the 3.1 miles seem to go by a little faster.....although I have to admit, at about the 2.5mile mark I was just praying to FINISH the race standing. I was stuggling to get across that finish line, I'm not gonna lie!! :)

But I somehow crossed the finish line with a time of 30:51. My personal goal is to do a 5K in less than 30 minutes and I am getting closer. Last week's race time was 30:52 so I was a whole second faster this week...that's better than a second slower, I suppose! There were over 8,200 runners/walkers at the race and I placed 1412th out of 8,200...not too bad, right?!?

So, I am a little disapointed I didn't get alot of pictures of the race atmosphere....because of all the people we had to park over a mile away and walk to the starting line, and by the time we got there we had 10 minutes before the race started....and of course, my 3 year old potty training diva had to "potty"....so when they blew the horn to start the race I was still trying to get in line.....no time for stretching.....

Check out the starting line of the race (the guy wearing white right in the middle won the race with a time of 15:31...yeah, I know, insane....and he happens to be the weather man on ABC news! haha

No action shots of my running this time...but I did get one of Ryan crossing the finish line.. he had a stroller and had to go to the back of the line, so I ended up beating him due to the tons of people running.... Brooke is hiding behind the visor on the stroller to block the wind..it was 55 degrees!!! Brrrrrrr

My friend, Kym, and I did another race together. This was her 2nd 5K and she was ahead of me the entire race, and we finished together.....she's sure to blow right past me in next week's race! It has taken me a year to build up to a 10 minute mile....it's taken her 2 races....YOU GO KYM!!!!!

Here's my sweet family after the race....Lil' Diva was not in the mood to have her picture taken...

This picture reminds me of..."YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF....THIS IS YOUR DEFINITION OF A "DOUBLE STROLLER"....

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to run in the Race For The Cure. Thank you again for allowing me to pray for those who have been affected by breast cancer!

Next week...PJ Run for cancers below the waist....not so sure I will actually be wearing pj's when I run.....

Race For The Cure...I need names

Tomorrow morning I will be running in the Susan G Komen Race For The Cure.
I am really excited about this race. There are supposed to be around 1400-1500 participants and will be the largest race I have done yet.
But I am also glad I can participate in a such a great charity.

By the way, have you read the story of Susan G. Komen? If not go HERE to read it. For me, it put a face with a name..and made me realize that "Susan" could be any one of US!

Fortunately, I have never had a family member with breast cancer. One of my best friend's mom's, Teresa Ensor, was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago
and is cured!!! I am so thankful she was healed, and pray others like her are just as successful at beating this cruel disease!

However, I need more names!!!

As I am running this race tomorrow I want to think about the others I am running for....both survivors and those who lost the battle. I want to lift up in prayer those who you know with this disease as I run the 3.1 mile course.

So please comment with the name(s) of anyone you would like lifted up in prayer!! I will make sure I have them on my mind tomorrow as I run!!!!!
THANKS!!!

Grateful For "D"

Grateful For "D"
It's been a while since I wrote what I am grateful for....and now I am on the letter "D"
Soooo,
*~DOGS*~ : I am surprised I am writing this one, since my dogs seem to drive me crazy..but the truth is, I DO love them. They are sweet little creatures, who will always cuddle and love me no matter how much I ignore them. I love their unconditional love!
*~DEALS*~ : I love a good deal!!! I'm getting better and better at stretching a dollar the older I get! haha
*~DAUGHTERS*~: Life wouldn't be the same without my daughters!!! Although I would love to have a son one day, I am SO grateful for 2 beautiful little girls. I have had such a BLAST since they came along...so much fun doing girly things with them, and watching them play together. There's nothing like a mother-daughter bond, and I am so thankful for the one I have with my girls!
*~DO-NUTS*~ : Grateful for their tastiness.....NOT grateful for their calories! haha
What "D" things are you thankful for????

Run, Forest, Run!!!

It's racing season again!!!

2 years ago, I would have said, "WHO CARES?!?"

But now, I am excited! Racing season is getting into full swing here, and I have signed up to do a race almost every weekend until December......am I crazy?!?!?
Probably so....
This weekend was called the "Courage For Kalya Race". Kayla is a local 15 year old girl who was paralyzed in an ATV accident in May. Money was being raised to help with her medical expenses. Ryan and I are glad we got to help out by donating money, and running for a good cause.
Photobucket
On Thursday, I bought some new running shoes.....these...
The girl in me doesn't like the look of them...but it's about the feet, and these feel great on my feet. For those of you looking for a good running shoe..this is an Asics Cumulus 11 running shoe...$100 at Dick's Sporting Goods.
So, Saturday morning we got the kids up early and headed out to the Courage For Kayla race...

The good thing about running, is that you are only racing against yourself. My goal was to beat my previous racing time of 32:07, and I ran it in 30:51. That's a 9:57 minute mile. In runner's terms, that's not that fast....the people who win these races finish with times anywhere from 18-22 minutes. And that's just insane! :) So, for me, 30:51 is a big accomplishment!
Photobucket
My friend, Kym, ran too. It was her first 5K, and now she's hooked. Here we are before the race with our kids...
Here we are stretching before the race..Photobucket

3.1 miles is a piece of cake for Ryan...that's why he's able to smile coming across the finish line.Photobucket

Me, on the other hand...was struggling those last few minutes...and there was no smile close to
my face! HA! (My eyes are focused on the finish line here)
Photobucket

Ryan pushed Brooke in the stroller and they finished in 24:11...and once Ryan finished he turned around and came back to find me to push me past the finish line. What a sweet hubby he is!Photobucket

But I crossed the finish line and lived to tell about it...and smile...Photobucket

One of my favorite things about racing is being able to do it with Ryan. Even though we don't finish at the same time, it's fun to root each other on! Photobucket Next weekend is the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure. I signed up last night to run this one...definitely for a good cause....and I hear there are about 1500 people who run this race....so this one should be exciting with all of those people. It will be my first BIG race...and I am thrilled!

Halloween Snack and Decorating Ideas....

Hi Blog Readers...
If you are anything like me, you spend all of your time picking up toys and getting things in order AND/OR cleaning your house. By the time the picking up is done, there's no time to actually clean it...and vice versa...
But today, I made a point to stay home and get some much needed toilet scrubbing, vacuuming and dusting done....and can breathe a sigh of relief that my house is officially clean...
for today, anyway....
So, I finished up a morning of chores, and now I am sitting down with my laptop...with Halloween on my mind. I have loved the Halloween season since I was a little girl....
I wish I had the time to decorate something like this
Photobucket

Or do my yard like this...
Photobucket

I'd even settle for one cute little table in my house that looked like this..
Photobucket

Even these are cute, but I wouldn't know where to put them...
Photobucket
Faith's class assigns one child to bring snack for the entire class, for the entire week. This works out nicely because I only have to think about sending in snack once every 18 weeks for her. I used to do that with my class when I taught, and it worked out great. Faith's week to take snack is coming up, so I am trying to come up with some cute snack ideas to send in. I found a few snacks like this...
Photobucket
and this..
Photobucket
..and I wish I had the time to make something fun like this... Photobucket

...even these are cute and would work...Photobucket
I will keep you posted on what I decide to send in for snack week....and if you have cute ideas or websites you can refer me to, PLEASE do....I am definitely NO Betty Crocker and need your help! Snack week is the week of the 19th!!!

Okay, my blog surfing time is up....until next time....
