Christmas With The Prices....

Well, another Christmas has come and gone....I can't believe 2008 is coming to an end...where does the time go???? It seems the older I get, the faster time goes by...and that's just not fair!!! :)

Without typing out all of our Christmas time adventures... I will just say that Santa made a stop by our house and left almost everything my girls wanted.....

...except for some "Shoo Shoo Baby" that Faith was asking for... I have never heard of it, and I am not positive it is a baby that exists...I think she made it up! Let me know if any of you have heard of it!

Here are pics from Christmas Eve, Christmas morning, and Christmas night (with the entire Price family)....

Brooke and the Dog Biscuits

On my Facebook page I have been telling everyone about Brooke carrying around dog biscuits all day. She doesn't eat them....just carries them around all day as if they were her favorite toy. I am baffled as to WHY she would pick these Milk Bone treats. Tobie and Tucker (our dogs) love to follow her around just waiting and hoping she will drop them, so they can get a treat.

These treats have gone everywhere from church, to the gym, to school with her....

I know, it's the strangest thing you have heard of....but you know what? She's happy, and she's not hurting a thing.... and I don't think carrying around dog biscuits can scar her for life...

So the dog treats go everywhere with us....

Here are a couple of pics of Brooke and her milk bones...

My Singing Angel

Faith was in the Christmas program at church on Sunday. She stood still and sang her little heart out like a big girl! We were so proud of her! She's growing up so fast! Here are a few pics and a video snippit of the performance!

Tacky Christmas and Stealing Presents..

We had our Christmas party for our Sunday School clas here at our house this weekend. Everyone (was supposed to) come wearing their tackiest Christmas attire....some did, some didn't....but we still had a load of fun with our friends!

We all brought a $5 gift and did a White Elephant gift exchange...where you draw numbers and you pick gifts out of a pile in order of your number. Then the next number in line can steal a gift that has already been opened, or pick from the pile of unopened gifts. It was quite hilarious....everyone was stealing one another's gifts.....you would never have guessed we were all in the same Sunday School class at times....but a fun time was had by all....my cheeks hurt from laughing so much...

I love my friends in my Sunday School class...we are more than just a bunch of people who meet on Sundays...we see each other during the week, and are always there for one another. God has placed us in the BEST Sunday School class, and put us with people I am proud to call my dear friends! God is soo good!

Videos of Brooke

Here are 2 sweet little videos of Brooke taken recently... She is singing Itsy Bity Spider in one, although it's a VERY chopped up version... The other video is of her counting to 10...then 8...then 9....she was sitting in my lap while counting, so I grabbed my camera, which happened ot be beside me...so the lighting is not the best....so it's a spur of the moment video... For those of you who know Brooke...you know that she is a VERY late talker...we have been waiting (and waiting) on Brooke to begin to talk...and she's finally starting to talk, just within the last 2 weeks....Faith was speaking paragraphs at this age, and Brooke is just now beginning to speak where you can inderstand her...even though we have a long way to go....

Christmas Cookie Decorating (and eating)...

This afternoon a friend of ours hosted a Christmas Cookie Decorating Party....

WHAT was she thinking inviting tons of kids over (especially Brooke) and allowing them to delve into cookies and icing, and sprinkles, and more icing, and more sprinkles????....

Actually, it turned out to be fun for the kids and parents.

My girls really enjoyed the fun. Faith went right into decorating her cookies and made some really pretty masterpieces with her cookies....sorry no pics of them...I was too busy eating and talking and didn't get pics of them...and plus, Faith ate them as fast as she decorated them.

Brooke was a different story.

Brooke sat down with her first 2 cookies, and in a matter of seconds realized the cookies were more fun to eat than to decorate. I'm not sure she even decorated one single cookie....she ate the cookie and then began digging in fingers in the bowls of icing that were set out on the table. See....

Brooke starts off looking like she knows what she is doing....

Then she sneaks in a nibble...

Whoops, she got caught...

I'll just sneak in a finger while no one is looking...

Getting caught....again...

Finally, after about 10 cookies, she had her fill...and her clothes were covered in icing....

And here is Faith the Cookie Artist working on her cookies...

After they came out of their sugar comas, they were bathed and put to bed tonight...fortunately, with NO belly aches! yay!

Multitasking and Staying Focused

I think God gave mothers the gift of multitasking. I can drive, talk on the phone and tend to rowdy kids in the back seat all at the same time. I can cook dinner, fold laundry and clean the kitchen all at once. What a great gift from God....multitasking.

But there are times I feel like a robot....like someone has pushed the fast forward button on my life.....

I forget to take time to notice the details of what I am doing.

I miss the "moments" in life I am supposed to be savoring, especially with my little ones....

It's like having a conversation with 3 people all at once... you are glad to be with them, they make you smile and you hear what they are saying, but you aren't really taking it all in....

This morning I got Faith up, dressed, fed and to the bus stop by 6:40am...jumped in the shower...made beds, cleaned the kitchen, staighted up Faith's room...folded some laundry...and then it was off to get Brooke up and ready and out the door to preschool, followed by a dentist appointment (where I had 3 cavities to be filled...arg), and off to do some Christmas shopping....all to rush back to get Brooke from school, down for a nap, so I could get some sewing done...then meet Faith at the bus stop, get her a snack, and get her started on her homework....etc

Do I sound familiar??????

In the midst of my morning.... I believe it was the 15 min of silence I had in my car going from the dentist to Toys R Us....I had a thought...

Staying focused on Christ....solely on Christ....changes my perspective on my busy world. When I stay focused on Christ, I see my life and those tasks in my life in a different light.

I don't see changing a diaper, or fixing my child's breakfast as a chore or a task... I see it as an act of service...when my eyes are focused on Christ.

When my daughter cries (and believe me...my youngest one cries ALOT) I can comfort her the way Jesus comforts me, with unconditional love and support. I am reminded that Jesus is always present, and I should be present, fully, with my children.

Matthew 6:33 says, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. And all of these things will be given unto you." I realize this doesn't mean things will be easy, but I know that God is with me at all times and will take care of me. And I want to do the same with my family....

Solely focusing on God means putting Him in the right place, in our hearts, purposely not accidentally, and resting in that....And as long as I am multitasking, as long as Christ is the focus, I can enjoy those "moments" the way He intended them.
