Deployment Project # 29...Board & Battan

I am sooo excited about this FUN transformation!!!

This is my foyer.

Photobucket

I just couldn't stand looking at that blank, boring wall. It needed SOMETHING to break up that large wall.

So, I had some board and battan put up.

Photobucket

I will admit. I did NOT do this. My sweet friend's husband (who owns a construction company) kindly did this for me. However, I have seen some tutorials on how to do this, so it's not an impossible DIY project. (Thrifty Decor Chick gives you an excellent tutorial HERE)

Once it was up, I did all the painting. I used semi-gloss Valspar white paint from Lowe's. (By the way, I L.O.V.E. Lowe's because they give me a 10% military discount with every purchase. I LOVE stores that support our military!)

Photobucket

Once it was taped up and painted with 3 coats of paint, I was able to put my furniture back in place. Trying to simplify the table, I took all of my photos off the table so it wasn't overcrowded. Now I just have a few things on it, for a nice clean look.

You can see my table transformation HERE

I am TOTALLY in love with my foyer now!!! But take a look above the board and battan....help me figure out what to put up there?!?!?!??! Any ideas??? 1 picture? 3 pictures? Nothing?
Photobucket

So, take a look again at my BEFORE....

....and my AFTER...woot!woot!

Squeal!!! I L.O.V.E. it!!!!
What do you think???

Deployment Project #28....Refinishing an Antique Table

This table belonged to my grandmother, and was handed down to my several years ago.
Photobucket

While it was pretty the way it was, it had some water rings on it, and needed a little TLC.

So, I took it out back and sanded it down with my FUN electric mouse sander!!!(Love that thing!)  Once it was sanded down, I put 3 coats of stain on it.

And here is my new entry way table! I am so pleased with the way it turned out!!!

I also had some board and battan put in this past week, and will blog about that later this week....

Deployment Project # 27...Pumpkin Outfit

I made this cute little fall outfit for Miss B, and took a picture of her on her way to school on Friday....

Just a simple project, but a project nonetheless.

I thought the houndstooth was cute!

A Field Trip

Faith had her very first field trip this week.....she's in 2nd grade and has never been on a field trip until this week (another reason I am LOVING this new private school we put her in!)

Earlier this week, we went to Magnolia Gardens, the oldest public gardens in America. You can check out their website HERE

Just amazing.

We loved it there...they had beautiful scenery, amazing history that dates back before the Civil War, and gorgeous landscapes! Why  haven't I been here before??? It's only 20 minutes away from my house!!!!

Just check out these pictures.....

That alligator sure is pretty WAAAAAYYYY over there.....he was at least 6 feet long....thank goodness he was FAR away.
Photobucket

They also had a petting zoo, which was everyone's favorite part of the field trip. These animals are so used to people, so you can walk right up to them. This rooster was about 2 feet away from me!! Isn't he gorgeous?
Photobucket

Photobucket

I liked the pigs....and Faith did too....they were so ugly, they were cute!!! (and FAT as pigs too!) ha!
Photobucket
Look, it's Thanksgiving dinner!

Photobucket
Faith took a liking to this deer...even named her "Lisa"....(.Lisa?!?!?!?!?)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Faith's 2nd grade class with the teacher....we LOVE the teacher!!!!
Photobucket

The little girls in her class are so sweet, fun, and get along so well!!!!
Photobucket
My sweet girls took a break from tree climbing to pose for a picture!

Photobucket

The best part of the field trip was getting to spend some one on one time with Faith.....being a "temporary" single mom of two kids, it's hard to get any one on one time with the kids lately, so this made my day to get to hang out with Faith. She's such a fun kid and I love being with her!!

I think I may have had more fun on the field trip than she did! ha!

HAPPY THURSDAY!
