A Weekend Get Away

This past weekend was spent at The Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC at Ryan's Army National Guard conference. This happens once a year, and I had been looking forward to it for quite some time now....a weekend get away with just Ryan...no temper tantrums, no diaper changing, no sharing the food on my plate....

Ahhhhhh, it was glorious!

The weekend was spent at the resort, which was absolutely beautiful..not to mention so big, that by the end of the weekend, we still had not figured out how to navigate around the place!

On Saturday night there was a formal, where all the women get dolled up in formal dresses, and the men wear their "dress blues", which is the formal wear for the Military. We were served a 4 course gourmet meal....you know, the kind of formal meal where you have so many forks and spoons sitting in front of you for each course, and you never know which one you are supposed to use first?!?!?! :)

We had a great weekend...we fitted in a little shopping, a little raquet ball, a little napping, and alot of socializing with the 500 other people there for the conference. It was some great quality time with Ryan...time we rarely get anymore due to work and kids. It's time spent with him like this past weekend, that makes me even more grateful for the wonderful man God has put into my life. And after 10 years of marriage, I continue to fall deeper and deeper in love with him each and every day!

My Terrific Kid!

Faith was awarded the "Student of The Month" for her class this month...also called The Terrific Kid...

The teacher picks a student who shows responsibility, hard work and is al all around good kid to receive an award...the award is a certificate and coupons to various restaurants and entertainment....

They held the awards ceremony yesterday, where Faith was called up on stage and shook the principal's hand and was made to feel very special...

As a former teacher, it warms my hear to know MY child is one who is appreciated and thought highly of by her teacher. It makes me feel as if I am doing something right as a parent....and I can breathe a sign of relief that Faith is being a good girl when she's not with me.

I"m so extremely proud of Faith...she's a smart girl with a huge heart for others....WAY TO GO FAITH!!!!

Losing Teeth The Hard Way...

So this happened a week ago, but I am just getting around to posting it....

Our church had a Parent's Night Out last week, where you drop the kids off from 6-9 and the parents get to go enjoy a few hours out. I waited ALL week long for Friday night! I cherish my alone time with Ryan...it's very few and far between these days, with 2 kids and his crazy work schedule.

So, we dropped off the girls and headed to a nice restaurant...just the two of us....with dessert planned at Starbucks afterwards....

Halfway through our meal, Ryan's cell phone rings. I can tell by the conversation, it's not a pleasant phone call. He looks up at me and says, "Faith just got her front teeth knocked out."

Our hot date turned cold....

Faith was jumping in a jump castle at church, and was pushed into the netting. Her teeth got hung in the net and her top front teeth were ripped out....are you cringing yet?!?!?

I think I was more upset than she was... the mere thought of my baby hanging from the net of a jump castle by her teeth just didn't sit well with me...and more importantly, it's always been known since before we had kids that they would be doomed from the moment of conception in the tooth category. Ryan and I both had the world's worst teeth growing up...and we both had braces. So, we said from the day we got married that we felt sorry for our children one day....

So, dollars signs flashed in front of my eyes, and the sight of my baby with no front baby teeth nearly crushed me....

A week later, I must admit, Faith looks pretty stinkin' cute with no teeth! She talks a little funny now, but she has said several times she thinks she looks "cool" with no front teeth! I have a dentist appt for xrays next week to see what her future holds...maybe her teeth will grow out of her ears...or we may get lucky and they will come in where they are supposed to....if we're lucky...

SO, here's my sweet Faith's first picture with no front teeth. This was taken the next morning, after we all calmed down..haha..

Tucker The Cowdog...

The poor torture our dogs go thorugh having Faith and Brooke in the house. Faith decided to put a cowboy hat on Tucker, our dashchund....thought this was too cute not to share. Doesn't he look so thrilled?!?!?

Basketball Fun!

We took the girls to a basketball game at The Citadel this past weekend, and they enjoyed it....sort of....Faith wasn't too interested until we explained what was going on..then she was really into it and was screaming and cheering for The Citadel. Brooke, could have cared less where we were...as long as she got to eat and drink she was happy.
