I picked up this chair a few weeks ago at my local Goodwill. I have always wanted to reupholster a chair, but was never able to find that perfect chair.

Then I came across that UGLY leather chair. But it was only $1, so I bought it with a vision in my head of what I could make it look like.

The best part?? When taking off the original cover, I found $.16 stuck in the cushions...which means I only paid $.84 for this baby!

I wish I had a tutorial on this for you, but I don't. Since this was my first try at reupholstering, I didn't document it all. BUT, if you want to know how I did it, email me.

My ugly ducking chair is now a swan!!! Let's take another look!!!!

Stepping Stool...Deployment Project # 77

DEPLOYMENT PROJECT # 77
Stepping Stool

I found this cute little stool at Goodwill for $2
Photobucket

I brought it home, painted the legs with some leftover paint and put some stain on the top.

Photobucket

Once the stain was dry, I printed out a "P" on my computer, cut it out and traced it on the top of the stool.

Photobucket

I filled in the letter with paint and sprayed a clear protective coating over it when it dried.

Photobucket

Now we have a cute step stool in our bathroom.

Total cost for this project was about $5

Deployment Project #71- Lamp Redo

Deployment Project # 71
Vintage Lamp Redo

My husband's grandmother recently passed away, and our family inherited these 1960's...1970's...matching yellow lamps.

I actually like the color of these, but I wanted them in our new bedroom, so I opted to paint them.

Photobucket

So, I sprayed them down with a can of gray spray paint, added a new white shade (purchased from Target) and hot glued gray ribbon around the edges.

Photobucket

The only cost was the $12 lamp shade and a $3 can of spray paint.  That beats spending $50 a lamp...and I needed two.

Now I have matching lamps in my master bedroom!!

Photobucket

Stay tuned....I promise I am almost ready to reveal my master Bedroom later this week!!!!

Happy Monday!

Deployment Project # 65- Small Table Redo

Recently, I found this little cutie....

Photobucket

I was looking for something small to put in a little nook in my house....

Photobucket

I purchased it from Goodwill for a whole $5.05

Photobucket

I put a few coats of a light beige paint on it (I only bought a sample and it was plenty), put on a vinyl decal I already had, and a new knob.....

Photobucket

The basket you see was also a Goodwill purchase for $1 and the books and book ends were already here at home...

Photobucket

For less than $10, I have new cute table...

Photobucket

It went from THIS...

....to THIS...

Deployment Project #44...a tray redo

I found this tray at my local Goodwill for just $4 the other day.

I brought it home and gave it a little TLC.
Photobucket

The first thing I did was paint the tray with some craft paint.

Next, I took some fabric I already had and laid it in the inside.....with a pen I traced around the inside edges, and then cut out the fabric.

Photobucket

I spread Mod Podge on the bottom of the tray and glued the fabric down.

Next, I spread the Mod Podge over the top of the fabric.

I decided to place the new tray on my washing machine, and put my detergents in it!

I'm on the hunt for more trays like this!

Photobucket

This tray would have cost at least $15 in a store...mine was $3.93!!!! I love Goodwill!

Deployment Project #43...a Craigslist Coffee Table!!!!

I'm really excited about this deployment project!

Meet my VERY FIRST Craigslist purchase...a snakes-skin, fake wood, beat up coffee table....

Photobucket

I paid $30 for this table....it was in desperate need of updating!

Photobucket

See that ugly top?? It looked like wallpaper glued on the top.

Well, I thought it would be easy to peel off and repaint.

Boy, was I wrong!

Only parts of it came off, leaving me with a disgusting looking top that I could do NOTHING with....

What's a girl to do??
Photobucket

Well, I went to my local lumber company and bought a piece of partical board cut to the diameter of the table.....I laid it on top of the table to hide the mess I had made.....

Here is what my living room looked like BEFORE I started re-modeling it...pay no attention to the old curtains...this was the only picture I could find with the old coffee table in the room...

The old coffee table was rectangle and crowded the space it was in.
Photobucket

I thought a round table would look much better in this space...

I bought a drop cloth canvas (one they use for painting) from Lowe's...and made this slipcover for it....complete with cording, pleats and ribbon trim!!!!!!
Photobucket

(The rug underneath came from Target. Other than Lowe's, it's my favorite store)

Photobucket

I wished I had done a tutorial for you to see how I did it, but it was my very first attempt at a slip cover.

However, it wasn't that hard, and I think it turned out okay!
Photobucket

It really opens up the space in front of the couch!

Photobucket

Photobucket

After I made the slip cover I took it outside and sprayed the heck out of it with scotch guard. Hoping I can keep this clean with 2 kids in the house....we'll see!

Photobucket

Sooooo, let's take another look...

Some Quick, Easy-Peasy Lamp Shades

I took a break from my big bookshelf project and did a few simple, easy, and fast crafts with some lamp shades.

I ran into my local Goodwill store the other day and found a cute lamp stand for $3....(forgot to take a before pic)

SCORE!

At Target, I found a lamp shade covered in burlap for $6.
Photobucket

SCORE!

Brought both home, spray painted the lamp stand in my favorite ORB spray paint, hot glued some trim around the top and bottom, and stencilled a cute design onto the shade with craft paint.

A brand new buffet lamp for my entry way table.....

Photobucket

Photobucket

OOOOOHHHHH, I LoooooVE it!!!!!!!

In Faith's room, I bought another $6 solid white shade from Tar-jay...gotta love Target...

Once again, I hot glued some ric rac  and trim around it....

Bought another lamp base at Goodwill for $2, spray painted it pink to match....

and here it is...

Photobucket

It's amazing how a simple white lamp shade can make something so cute!
Photobucket

It looks so cute next to her bed....
Photobucket

Lastly, and the most simple of my lamp shades is this one...

Photobucket

This lamp was recently spray painted in ORB with just a plain cream colored shade....

....but I thought it needed something more.....

So I simply tied a ribbon around the shade to add a little "umph" to it...

Photobucket

Photobucket

I think it really changes the look, don't you??

I Looooove it.....

Photobucket

what' da' ya think????

Have a great weekend!
