the half bath makeover....

I enjoy reading blogs about decorating....'cause Lord knows, I have no eye for it on my own.
If you remember, I attempted a laundry room makeover HERE
After looking at various makeovers on other blogs, I was inspired to do my own little makeover. I decided to do our half bathroom....it's the smallest room in the house, so I figured it would be easy. And it was easy....but I didn't realize how much shopping around I did for things to go in a half bath...I mean, really, is there a need to decorate a HALF BATH?!?
SO....before I started, this is what my half bath looked like...
Photobucket
Not ugly, right?!? Just a little too plain jane....
I decided I wanted to go with a different color, and I found "birdbath gray" at Lowe's. It's seems to be a mixture of blue and gray, depending on the lighting...and every now and then it has a tint of green.
And here is what it looks like now...
Photobucket
I love the way it turned out. I really wanted to step away from using brown decor, and throw in some black....but I couldn't find any pretty black decor. So I bought a can of spray paint, and painted the toilet paper holder, basket, cross, tissue holder and towel rack all black. And after all that, I think I'm addicted to spray painting...can't wait to find something else to transform! (FYI, the black and white towel and rug came from Target and the other things you see in the picture are things I just pulled from around my house)
I found this cross on clearance at TJ Maxx......
Photobucket
I also got this basket on clearance, took out it's liner and spray painted it black, and WA LA!!!Photobucket
I thought the room needed a little color so I added this picture frame I already had and the cute little soldier....I think it really adds to the room!Photobucket

Next I'm ready to move on to the master bath! Stay tuned for that!

Am I The Only One....

...who doesn't care about this movie and it's characters?!?

Photobucket

I hope I don't offend anyone...afterall, it's just a movie...
But what is it about this movie/book/characters that has everyone in ka-hoots?!?
I will admit, I haven't read the book(s) or seen the movie....so maybe I don't know what I am missing....but honestly, a storyline with vampires and werewolves as the main characters don't interest me AT ALL!
So, somebody please tell me I am NOT the only one who is not into this Twilight/New Moon saga.....and if you are into it, tell me what it is that makes it so enticing....
...who knows? Maybe I will give it a shot....

Happy Veteran's Day

Happy Veteran's Day to you all out there!

I enjoyed spending the day with my Veteran! My husband is a Major in the U.S. Army and I couldn't be more proud of him!!!

Faith had a Veteran's Day program at her school, and we enjoyed going and watching it!!!

Then we came home, tooks naps, and hung out at home for most of the day. We finished the day off with a family trip to the gym to exercise, and some sushi for dinner! A great day!

Here are a few pictures from our morning...

I Ran An 8K!!!

On Saturday I ran in the Governor's Cup 8k/Half Marathon Race.....
Kudos to those who ran in the half marathon...how on earth do you do it?!?
I ran in the 8K, which is equal to 5 miles. If you have been keeping up with my running (HERE
and
HERE and HERE and HERE you will know that I do everything I can to complete a 5K....like I have said from the start, I am NOT a runner..nor will I ever be a fast runner...I like to call myself an extremely fast walker...or maybe even a jogger...haha
.BUT this past Saturday I ran an 8K...and I am so proud of myself!!!
The same girl that just ran the entire 8K is the SAME girl who stepped up on a treadmill a year ago and almost passed out after 3 minutes of running. This same girl ran her first 2 miles in over 28 minutes a year ago....
and on Saturday THIS SAME GIRL ran for an entire 51 minutes and 45 seconds and completed her first 8K!!!!
This girl is ME....and what's neat is that it could be YOU!! If I can do it, ANYONE can do it!
Am I bragging???
HECK, no....in the runner's world, I am slow as Christmas...I run a 10 minute mile.... I will always be the one finishing in the middle...or close to the end...I'll never see a top place finish...and I am okay with that...
The great thing about running, is that you are ONLY competing against yourself....I run in the hopes of beating my OWN time, not someone else's....
So, anyway....here is my one picture from my race this weekend...I ran this with my cousin, Connie. It was her very first race, and she did great!

Next race is on Thanksgiving Day...The Gobble & Wobble 5K...looking forward to that one!!!
They even have a 25 meter race for my 3 year old!
I'll keep you posted!!

Fun At The Fair

Photobucket
On Sunday, we took a family trip to the fair....
...and let me add that I left my anitbacterial hand sanitizer in the car by mistake....can we say swine flu waiting to happen?!??!? My poor kids thought I was crazy taking them to the restroom over and over to wash their hands...

The girls had a blast....and Ryan and I did too...nothing makes me happier than seeing my children happy. Just watching them laugh as they rode on the rides warmed my heart through and through....we had lots of smiles and laughs on Sunday! I couldn't have been happier watching those sweet gals of mine!

$100 and 5 hours later, we left with 2 extremely happy (and tired) girls....and it was worth every penny to see the look on their faces at the fair.

Ryan and I laid in bed that night laughing about our day...talking about things they said or did...Brooke shoveling in cotton candy by the fist fulls, or Faith squealing on a ride...These girls make us laugh out loud, and make us so unbelievably happy! We're so blessed!!!

Even I got to enjoy some rides!

The girls got bubble guns....no one could escape thee bubble blowing kids....they blew bubbles all the way to the car!

After 5 hours, it was time to go....

Halloween Weekend

WOW! What a busy weekend....TONS of fun....but busy, nonetheless..

Photobucket

Friday was my birthday....although, I don't celebrate my birthdays anymore (if you don't celebrate, you don't grow older, right?!?) Ryan wanted to take me to dinner, but there was a costume party at our YMCA, so I opted to take the kids there for the night and enjoy some fun family time. They had family zumba during the party, and Brooke danced her little heart out! I couldn't get her to stop....

Photobucket

Photobucket
One of the few pics I got of my girls in their costumes....Big sis was too cool to stop for pictures...
We had lots of cupcakes...
Photobucket
....and LOTS of chocolate...
Photobucket
Faith's friend was at the party too....
Photobucket
Brooke REALLY liked the dancing gorilla in the Zumba class....it's funny that my oldest was scared of it, but Brooke wasn't...
Photobucket
ON HALLOWEEN, we had a great day! Ryan and I had a "date"! My in-laws came up to celebrate my birthday/Halloween with us and offered to watch the girls while we went to a Citadel football game. I got to watch an entire football game uninterrupted!!!! WAHOO!
We came home, and started up the grill! We had family and friends over for burgers before we headed out to Trick or Treat....I love get togethers!
Afterwards, we headed out with everyone to Trick or Treat!
Photobucket

Photobucket
It was fun watching the kids run up to each house....they acted like they were on a shopping spree, running to and from each house as fast as they could.
