Decorating Dilemma....shades or drapes?

I'm in a decorating dilemma!

Recently, I had my living room painted....and now my current window treatments don't go with the new wall color....

Sooo, I am going to make some new ones....

Check out my set of 4 windows on my back wall....

Excuse the darkness of the picture...obviously didn't take these pictures at the right time of day

The question is this....

Do I make new roman shades or drapes for these windows???????

I would make roman shades in a different fabric to look just like the ones you see.....or go a little more formal and hang drapes?????

Thoughts and opinions????

Thanks in advance for the help!

i like the roman shades! drapes would be too much in my opinion.. keep it fresh and simple with the roman shades :).

I like the roman shades for the same reasons too. They're soft and lovely. I'd stick with them as you have beautiful windows and trim.

We don't use any and we love it. We have the "hidden" honeycomb shades that draw up to a skinny vertical line above the windows and a skinny horizontal line for the sliding doors for privacy in certain rooms, but leave it open in the rest. But if you want the cover either way, I would use a lighter color to let some light in, unless you are more worried about privacy.

Thanks for stopping by and saying Hi yesterday!
I create a LOT of window treatments and I'd suggest a combination of both! Long panels on rods and rings that break on the floor for the two outside windows and roman shades on the doors, mixing the fabrics as well. Another thought would be raising the rod either to the bottom of the transom or even above the transom!
Have fun creating!

I love roman shades, but I LUV drapes. What I think would be to die for is, a curtain rod above the top windows and gorgeous long drapes that touch the floor. A rich chocolate or a creamy white.

You could always have both! You could have stationery panels on the sides that don't draw open or closed...just LOOK like panels for a finished look and I like the comment about the honeycomb panels that draw up from the bottom giving privacy but still let light in. I have two sets of French doors either side of my dining/living room and NO room on all sides to draw drapes so you're VERY lucky to have the option. I would DIE to have draw drapes of some sort with them puddled on the floor. Check out this blog ALL about curtains/drapes of ALL kinds:
