Am I The Only One....

...who doesn't care about this movie and it's characters?!?

Photobucket

I hope I don't offend anyone...afterall, it's just a movie...
But what is it about this movie/book/characters that has everyone in ka-hoots?!?
I will admit, I haven't read the book(s) or seen the movie....so maybe I don't know what I am missing....but honestly, a storyline with vampires and werewolves as the main characters don't interest me AT ALL!
So, somebody please tell me I am NOT the only one who is not into this Twilight/New Moon saga.....and if you are into it, tell me what it is that makes it so enticing....
...who knows? Maybe I will give it a shot....

so far i haven't met anyone who read the series or liked the movie that WAS into vampires and warewolves. people aren't into this series because it's science fiction...it's a beautiful love story. (and believe it or not has some underlying christian values.) stephanie's writing brings out emotions that you haven't felt in years...trust me! try it. i promise you won't be sorry. (i can lend you the books.)

I agree with Elisabeth. I was turned off at first because I lumped it with being a "vampire" book. This past summer, I got the first book for a beach vacation to try it out. Oh My Word! It totally sucked me in and I fell in love with the characters. I read books 2-4 in about 5 days. It's about an amazing love story and the book is very well written. Just look pass the vampires and werewolves and try out Book #1. And for the record, I'm not a science-fiction kind of girl.

However, take this with a grain of salt as I'm one of the nutjobs going to the midnight showing tonight!

Not sure what the fuss is all about myself. I saw the movie but am not a reader so I havent read it. The movie was just a movie to me. I don't see why all of the older women out there are so into it. I can understand the younger generation liking it b/c of the love story part but honestly it isn't the best role model, if you will, for a young girl to follow. A "Forbidden love" I dunno. I also wasn't crazy about the whole vampire thing either. I let my older two watch it but they didn't goo gaga over it either. I really would like to hear what underlying christian values it has in it. That's a new one! In my opinion you aren't missing a thing!

The first movie was awful (very low budget). This movie has a huge budget and a new director so hopefully it will be a lot better. The movie does not do the books justice.
Just like in every book-to-movie, the books always win. There is a message of using self-control in a relationship and not letting your emotions run away. Again, the books are just meant for entertainment and by no means did Stephanie Pryor right them for "role model" advice. As for why I love it, I love it because it brought back those "giddy" feelings you get when you are first dating someone that you really like. Who doesn't like to feel butterflies when it is related to something exciting? Just try to read the first book, Paige.

Paige, you KNOW I am not reader! I kept hearing all the hype about it and thought people were crazy too. I decided to grab Twilight one day to see if I could even get into it. The rest is history! I read all 4 books in a week! Crazy, but I could not put them down! Stephanie Meyer started this whole series based on a dream she had one night. She is a mormon and I believe tried to give her characters some moral value. I agree that the 2nd movie will probably be better than the 1st with a bigger budget. Can't wait to see it & I think I will start reading the books again....for the 5th time!! :O

I'm not trying to argue with you Anne, but that is the whole point. In this day and time our children are watching all of these types of things and whether we like it or not they ARE their role models. I mean if all of these older women I know are reading it and getting "obsessed", like they say then can you imagine the younger girls! I don't know, I may be old fashioned but I think, as a society, we have become so accustomed to letting them watch so much of the stuff that is on now that we become accustom to it ourselves. Myself included. I was just telling my husband the other day that we need to start cutting back on certain channels b/c we have become too lax on what they have been watching and how much of it. I can see it in their attitudes. I'm not sure if you have children but this is my main concern right now. I know that you didn't ask about your kids seeing it Paige, as you have young children, but I have older ones as well as young so my focus may be different. The love story is sweet but like I said before you aren't missing what you haven't seen. :) I hope this doesn't offend you Anne. :) I just feel strongly about certain things.

Here is my take. I didn't want to get sucked into the books and never planned on seeing the movies. Then right before Steve left on deployment he bought me the first two books. I read them in 3 days. Then rushed out to buy the other two books. I did not see the movie until the last day it was in the theater and I was the only person there! I did see New Moon opening night at midnight and then again at 2:30 Friday afternoon.
There is just something about the characters that draws you in. You do end up picking sides...Team Edward or Team Jacob. It is just a release where you can go back and to those days when you were a teenager and everything was romantic and you got butterflies when you saw the guy you liked walk in. It takes you away from reality, which in my opinion is what a good book should do. It is so worth it. give them a chance you might just be a convert ;)

p.s. Steve thinks I am a ridiculous person for reading and watching them over and over!

Oh, Paige...come over to the dark side! ;)

I resisted...OH, how I resisted...everyone annoyed the beans out of me yamming about it...

and then one night while the hubby was out of town, I bought Twilight on Pay Per View...

watched it TWICE that night...

raced to Target the following morning & bought the movie on BLUE RAY (you must see it on blue ray, oh my) and the first three books...

read all three books in ONE WEEK...

made myself slowly, slowly read the last one & I cross my heart, I actually CRIED a little when I finished because I didn't want the love story to end!

It's a blissfully, happy diversion to everyday life...

and the New Moon movie is 100 times better than Twilight!!
