Show Us Your Life-Wedding Party

Over at Kelly's Korner she has a new "Show Us Your Life" theme each Friday. Last Friday it was show us your wedding gown. This Friday it's "show us your bridesmaids dresses, flowers, etc"...Some of mine were shown last Friday, and it looks like you will get a double dose of them. We got married in 1999, before the time of digital photography...can you believe that??? I'm old enough to remember life before digital cameras?? Wow, I feel old. So, the only pics I have are ones that have been scanned....sorry for the not-near-great quality.

Anyway, I got married on July 17,1999 and my bridesmaids dresses were a color called amathyst...I couldn't find any shoes to match, so I picked out some silver ones. WHAT WAS I THINKING? I was dead set on having yellow and pink flowers...which didn't match the bridemaids dresses....WHAT WAS I THINKING?

I would SOOOOOOO totally do this whole color scheme thing over again.....I would like to think I am much better at coordinating colors now. :)

Here is Ryan with my bridesmaids...you can see teh purple dresses and pink/yellow flowers..

Ryan with all the groomsmen. They all wore "tails".

Before the wedding, here I am with my bridesmaids. See the silver shoes sticking out?!?!

Here is my best friend, Carolina.

Here's the funniest part...MY BASKET WEAVE CAKE! At the time, I just let my mom pick out the cake, since I really didn't care....but she picked a basket weave....oh my!!! That shows you how Southern we truly are! haha!

Okay, that's it! I think next week's theme is the reception...I have some funny ones for that one, so check back!

Cute Lil' Nursery

Faith's Kindergarten teacher, who is now a sweet friend of mine, asked me to make her curtains for her son's nursery. She's due in a matter of days with Baby Logan, and I gave it my best shot at getting what she wanted made. I had to warn her that I have only made a few sets of curtains, and she had to keep it simple...and this is what she came up with. I think it turned out absolutely adorable!!

Now all she needs is Baby Logan there to enjoy his room!!!

Happy BIrthday Sweet Hubby!

Today is Ryan's birthday!!! The girls and I made him a card....
This is the front of the card...

...and this is the back...

However, it seems as though I am out of the running for The Wife Of The Year Award....this week has been crazy busy...I have had several internet orders and was finishing up some curtains for my friend's nursery (pics to follow soon)...and I waited until the last minute to shop for his golf shoes he said he wanted. It's no fun going from place to place ALONE, much less dragging two small children with me everywhere! They aren't the world's greatest shoppers, ya know?

Then I got ready to print out this cute, sweet card....and my printer was out of ink...so needless to say, I have NOTHING to give the hubs for his birthday...hoping to sneak out at some point today to get a cake..or something....yikes!

Show Us Your LIfe--Your Wedding Dress

Over at Kelly's Corner she has a different "Show Us Your Life" theme each Friday. This Friday it's "Show Us Your Wedding Dress."

I was married on July 17, 1999, so it's been TEN years since my special day....but I still think I would pick the same dress over again. My mom and I shopped all over for my wedding dress, and the one I ended up wearing was the VERY first one I tried on!!

My dress was pretty simple. I didn't want any sequins and flashy crystals on it...

Here is my sweet father walking me down the aisle...

This is my favorite wedding picture out of the gazillion that were taken. This was during our first dance. Good gracious, I was so happy!!! (and still am!)

Here I am waiting on the ceremony to start....my favorite color flower is a pale yellow rose...so that's all I wanted for my wedding bouquet....

Here we are dancing the night away! The photographer actually used this picture for his ad in local magazines!!

Okay, one last picture....sorry I am getting carried away....This is another fun one that was taken...we were having so much fun!!!

Okay, I am done. Next week, Kelly is asking for pics of the wedding party...so stay tuned!

What I've Learned Since High School

While reading another blog, I came across this....she graduated from high school 20 years ago and listed some things she has learned since then. I have been out of high school for 15 years, so I can totally relate to these things she has listed!! I laughed out loud on some of these, and I hope you can too....

"Things I have Learned Since High School"

1. Tweezers are your friend. For heaven’s sake, if your eyebrows cover half your eyelid and often impede your vision, don’t be afraid to get rid of a few of them.

2. It may seem cool to get a car with only two seats but it will prove to be impractical even though it has a sweet Alpine stereo system with a radio that requires you to turn the knob to change stations.

3. The realization that Guess overalls can’t bring lasting happiness, even though they were totally awesome when I wore them with my Esprit booties.

4. Four perms a year is four perms too many.

5. Later in life you may experience some guilt related to your direct role in destroying the ozone layer due to excessive use of Rave aerosol hairspray.

6. Tucking your jeans into your socks just makes you look like an ice cream cone. An ice cream cone with a big, crispy perm on top.

7. Blue mascara. No.

8. Laying out in the sun using only the spf contained in baby oil is a bad idea. Why did it never occur to me that I was literally frying myself?

9. It’s possible to wear too much Lauren by Ralph Lauren perfume, especially if you carry it around in your purse to touch up your scent in between classes.

10. Just because you can get shoes dyed to match your peach lame’ prom dress doesn’t mean you should. And, really, peach lame’ is a regretful choice.

11. Peplums don’t work for everyone.

12. Same goes for shoulder pads.

13. Contrary to my belief at the time, Erasure did not prove to be the best band ever. Ditto for Duran Duran and Whitesnake. However, Run DMC and The Beastie Boys totally stand the test of time.

14. While satisfying and delicious, a lunch comprised of Cool Ranch Doritos and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups probably isn’t the best choice.

15. As it turns out, breaking up with a boyfriend doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world, although it does push the limits of how many times you can fast-forward a mix tape to Sinead O’Connor singing “Nothing Compares 2 U” or listen to the entire Chicago 17 album.

16. There is such a thing as hair that’s too big. A sure sign is when it extends past the perimeter of your graduation cap or requires you to use a bottle of Aussie Sprunch Spray and a set of 52 hot rollers to achieve the desired width to height ratio. Sometimes less is more.

17. Same goes for bows, both on dresses and in your hair. Also, a puffed sleeve should be used in moderation.

18. The banana clip was an unfortunate hair accessory made more unfortunate by the fact that I owned one in every color. I believe it was the Bump-It of the ’80’s.

19. I have never been more right than when I informed my Geometry teacher that Geometry was a waste of time because I’d never use it in real life. EVER.

20. Twenty years go by in the blink of an eye and, while each one has its share of challenges, it just gets better.

Who Lives in a Pineapple Under The Sea?

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, of course!

Just FYI....I hate Spongebob....he has GOT to be the most annoying cartoon EVER made.

But my 6 year old loves him......and since my 2 year old does WHATEVER her big sis does, she now likes him too...

So, we found out Spongebob was going to be at the local Minor League baseball game on Monday night. Faith begged and begged to go see Spongebob...

Being the good parents we are (thank you)....we piled up in the car and headed for a night of baseball and Spongebob...

...and so did everyone else on this side of the Mason Dixon line. We waited in line for 45 minutes to catch a glimpse of Spongebob. Who needs to fight the crowds and lines at Disney World, when you have Spongebob right here?!?!?!?!?

After our 45 min wait, my girls got to spend an entire 10 SECONDS with none other, than Spongebob....Aren't they so cute and happy to see him?

Well, this is what it looks like when your 10 seconds of Quality Time with Spongebob is over...

But, that's nothing a little Dippin' Dots and Gatorade can't cure...

We enjoyed the baseball game...until the 6th inning when crankiness and tiredness sat in...but I'm glad we got to see that annoying little sponge...anything to see my kids happy, right?

RAH RAH! SIS BOOM BAH!

Faith attended a cheerleading camp at a local high school last week...and I just getting around to posting her pictures and videos....Very cute!

It's a GATOR!

Soooo, I am hanging out with a neighbor of mine in her backyard the other day...keep in mind our houses back up to a cute little pond....and she tells me she heard there was an alligator spotting in our pond.

Yeah, right.

No sooner did she get that sentence out of her mouth, the alligator comes up out of the water onto land after a bird that was walking close by.

Holy cow! We have an alligator living in our cute little pond!!!

What's sad, is that we have a mamma duck with 6 little chicks that used to swim in a line all behind her...so cute, and something fun to look at every time I looked out my back window.

Mamma Duck seemed to have one less chick every day we looked out there...and we couldn't figure out where they were going....

Now Mamma Duck is down to one little chick, and I can almost certainly tell you where the other 5 went. So sad.

SO, anyway, we spotted the alligator and I ran inside to get my camera...mainly because I didn't think anyone would believe me if I told them we have an alligator in our pond. He's about 2 feet long, plus a tail that is another 1-2 feet...so a baby by alligator standards....but trouble, regardless, in my standards.

The "macho" men in our cul-de-sac are all about "shooting" him and "killing" him. I am not an extreme animal lover...definitely not a member of PETA..or whatever that animal activist group is called....but I am certain I don't want to see him shot. I am thinking more along the lines of calling Animal Control and getting him relocated...

I have 2 little dogs with "Gator Bait" written all over them until this gator is removed! :)

Back From Vacation

Whew~... I have that " I need a vacation from vacation" feeling!

We are back home from an amazing 10 day vacationin Destin, FL. We used to live there, so it's like going home for me. I miss is so terribly much.

We went a few days early to hang out with our "local" friends...and then on to the beach to meet my best friend of 20+ years and 3 other family friends for a fun week at the beach.

LOVE going to Destin with these other 3 families. I consider them all a very important part of my life, even though we don't get to see some of them but once a year. We all rent a house and pile the adults and kids, and even 2 babysitters, in it for the week. What you think would be a hectic week, with 9 kids, 8 adults and 2 teenagers is actually a very fun week. One family brings the babysitters along so that the adults can have fun nights out!! It's so much fun, and the one week I think I look most forward to during the year. Our kids love each other, and all have a blast.... I always leave with a great feeling being around these friends...but a sad heart, knowing I have to wait a whole year to hang out with them again!

Here are some pics from our fun week....

My "local" friends...some of the BEST friends ever...miss these girls...

Fun times on the beach with my vacation family!

...and some family pics and cute snap shots...
