We made it home from Germany on a Thursday afternoon....our yearly family trip to Florida was planned for Friday. Jet lagged, we loaded up the car and headed to Florida with the girls. Every year we rent a house with 3 other families for the week..one of the families is my best friend of 26 years and her family. It's a vacation I look forward to every year...quality time with my family and my best friend....it doesn't get better than that!!!

Unfortunately, I don't have any fabulous photos to show you....I kept forgetting to take my camera to the beach all week, until the last day.

Photobucket

Here we are...the Price family...hanging on the beach!!

Photobucket

My 4 yr old was not in the mood for pictures...can't you tell????

I was parked in a chair reading my book  (Heaven is For Real...great book)...

No vacation would be complete without a trip to one of my favorite places...

AUBURN UNIVERSITY!

Home of the 2010 National Football Champions!!!!! (gotta say that as much as I can....bragging rights are almost over for the year! ha!)

Photobucket

I graduated from Auburn University, and I love taking my kids back there to see where I spent 4 of the best years of my life!!!! Can't wait to take them to a football game one day....the football atmosphere is an absolute blast.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Toomer's Trees....these trees are a trademark of the university having been here since the 1800's. Unfortunately, some cruel Alabama fan poisoned the trees after Auburn beat them in football, ( talk about a SORE loser) and the Auburn family has their fingers crossed the trees can be saved.

Photobucket

One of the best places to eat in Auburn....if you are ever close by, this place is a MUST!

Photobucket

Miss B is loving her Tiger nose she got at the bookstore!

Photobucket

After our trip through Auburn we finally made it back home....and here we will stay for a while! Loved all my travels this summer...but there's no feeling like being at home!

School starts for the kiddos tomorrow, and while it's been a wonderful summer...(hubby came home from Iraq, trip to Germany and Austria, a trip to Florida and Auburn University)....I am looking forward to returning to a routine.

Hope you had a wonderful summer as well. I am looking forward to getting some projects done around the house and sharing them with you!!!!

Vacation Recap Part IV- Frankfurt, Germany

Vacation Recap Part IV
Frankfurt, Germany

We didn't intend on going to Frankfurt. We were supposed to fly out on a military plane out of the Air Force Base, but after waiting 3 days for a flight we gave up on that military flight and booked a flight that went out of Frankfurt. We got to Frankfurt around 3pm and left early the next morning. So we only had the afternoon to walk around and enjoy the sights of Frankfurt.

Photobucket

But, Frankfurt turned out to be just as interesting as the other areas in Germany we visited. The guy at the hotel told us to go down to the old part of downtown, so we caught a cab and headed that way.

Photobucket

While walking around we ran into this guy, below, selling hotdogs on the street. How hilarious is that?!? There must be a high demand for hot dogs in Frankfurt....I guess I should have eaten a frankfurter while in Frankfurt, but they just didn't look that appetizing to me!  Would you buy a hot dog from a guy like this?!? ha!

This Beer-Mobile was hilarious. The people pedaled together and drank beer at the same time. I had to get a picture as it went zooming by us.

So there are a few shots of Frankfurt, Germany.  Soon I will be back in to share pics from our family vacation to Florida and get you caught up on our month of July!!!!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Vacation Recap, Part III--Neuschwanstein Castle

The day we visited the Neuschwanstein Castle was another of my favorite days in Germany. From our hotel, we had a guided tour that took us up to this gorgeous castle, once built for King Ludwig of Bavaria. You can read more about the castle HERE.

Disneyworld's Cinderella Castle was designed after this castle. Of course, the PERFECT 72 degrees and sunny weather we had made the castle that much more beautiful.

Photobucket

The view from the front of the castle looks like a postcard.
Photobucket

Here we are at the top of the castle.
Photobucket

With a view like this, I can see why King Ludwig picked this spot for his castle!

At the bottom of the long walk down you can see the yellow castle that King Ludwig crew up in. He built the larger castle above it so he could watch over this yellow one.

Photobucket

In between those 2 rocks way over there is a small bridge with people on it. You can walk across it and take photos of the castle in the distance. I walked about a third of the way across it, ad made the mistake of looking down. Feeling queasy...and being afraid of heights didn't help...I quickly scurried back to the side of the bridge.
Photobucket

At the bottom of the castle, we had lunch in the restaurant behind us.

Tomorrow I can show you are few photos of our day in Frankfurt. Stay tuned....

Vacation Recap, Part 2 : Salzburg, Austria

Vacation Recap, Part II
Salzburg, Austria

I think our day trip to Salzburg was my favorite trip during our European adventure.  I absolutely loved this city.  Sadly, we only made a day trip there, so we didn't get to see it "all" but what we did see was awesome!!!

The first stop we made was the Mirabell Gardens.  These gardens were made in 1609 by Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau (good grief, the name). He had them made as a token of his love for his wife....and apparently, she liked the garden because they ended up have 15 children!!!!!

See that castle in the background??? You are about to see some pics from the top of it!

Photobucket

Photobucket

See the castle up high on the hill?? That was our next stop. You could take a cable car up to the top, or take the 30 minute walk (UPHILL) to it. We were brave enough to walk!! Boy, was it a hike!

It is called the Hohensalzburg Castle....built in 1077!!!! It's one of Europe's largest castles and once served as military barracks and prison.

Photobucket

Here is  a shot of the first of many ramps we had to walk up.

Photobucket

...and lots of steps to climb...

Photobucket

But once we were at the top, the view was astonishing!

Photobucket

I loved this doorway!!!

Photobucket

The line to the top was l-o-n-g so we settled for going about 3/4 of the way up and stopping.  Here is a photo we had taken at the highest point we reached!

Photobucket

Down in the city, you can see the castle in the background.

Photobucket

Just a random side road we walked down...horse drawn carriages were everywhere...

Photobucket

We stopped at a roadside cafe for dinner....see what I am wearing??? A hooded sweatshirt....in JULY!!! The high was in the 60's while were there. Can you believe it?!?

Photobucket

Photobucket

Salzburg is famously known as Mozart's birthplace....this yellow building in the middle of the city is the home he spent his first 7 yrs of life in. We wanted to tour it, but again, the line was long and we only had the day...so we settled for a picture of the outside of it.

Photobucket

In one of the downtown areas, we came across this funny gold ball with the statue of a man on top. I tried to do some research on this ball, but no one seems to know what this crazy ball stands for....the only info I came across was that the man on top was contemplating his spirituality since this ball sits in front of one of the cathedrals.  See those people underneath the gold ball?? Those aren't actually people...they are statues that appear to be playing chess. Weird, huh???

Photobucket

This was in Mozart Square....on the left side oft he photo you can see a statue of Mozart. Even if you are not aware that Salzburg is the birthplace of Mozart, you quickly figure it out because he is EVERYWHERE!...Mozart shirts, candies, trinkets, etc. It's Mozart overload there in Salzburg!

Photobucket

Check out this beggar disguised as a monk.  Very freaky....I wish you could see a close up of his face.....yikes! (Maybe if you click on the picture you can zoom in on it)

Photobucket

So there are a few photos from our trip to Salzburg....such an awesome city.

And, NO, we didn't see ay kangaroos...we were in AUSTRIA....not Australia!!!! ha!

I will be back tomorrow with more photos from our trip to Frankfurt!
